***God willing, I will never not call

Last night I was driving home from visiting a friend. A temperate night in Florida, I had the window down enjoying the fresh ocean air. Driving along Indian River Drive, I began hearing screams and a woman’s voice. I saw a truck backed into a vacant lot, driver’s side door was open, no lights on. This is where the screaming was coming from.

***From Forgiveness Into Oneness

I’ve been thinking about close of the year 2012. I usually think of the close of the year as a time for reflection and gratitude. But what came to me in this morning’s meditation was the topic of forgiveness. I thought to myself – I’m not holding any grudges. I can’t think of anyone I’m displeased with. Why forgiveness?

***The holy perfectionist

I woke up the other morning with a painful knot of gridlocked stress around my stomach. Great…that’s what we call a “fog” – a “freakin’ opportunity for growth”. Not so bad, though. It’s just an opportunity to trade out that knot for a gift of divine truth and grace, and that painful tension was the signal to let me know that this opportunity was coming. And it just so happened I had a healing session scheduled with a friend from Minneapolis. Perfect!

Women - We Need to Know This and Shout It from the Mountain Tops!

For almost 20 years now, I have been helping women find healing for their health, emotions, weight, body image and so much more. Time and time again, we find there is a powerlessness women experience that is beyond biology or hormones, and even the mind. It has a deep-seated root – a root based in FALSEHOOD. It’s time to reveal the TRUTH and SHOUT it from the mountain top! The lies and misperceptions: Our society carries a shaming of the woman, of being feminine, that leaves most women feeling a need to hide their light in order to feel safe.

***The Earth is Raining Mercy

Life is hard. It's full of challenges. It's meant to be that way – part of the journey. I grew up the daughter of a baker. I was a major sugarholic. Sweets and alcohol were staples in my diet – often in heavy doses. I had a few minor health challenges, but nothing I couldn't live with. I was content. I was unconscious to the ways that I used sugar and alcohol in my life – and content.

***Spirituality – Self-Sacrifice or Self-Care?

Do you consider yourself a spiritually-connected person? I do, and yet I sometimes find myself falling short of caring for my physical body in a way that best serves me. I skip breakfast or the morning workout so I can cram in one more errand on the way to work; I commit to more tha I can comfortably deliver and end up short-changing my time for spiritual practices and meditation that I need to rejuvenate myself; or I eat too fast or don’t get enough sleep because someone I care about needs me.

***Listening to Your Body - Disce ing Messages of the Mind, Heart & Gut

The other day I was driving in my car and a dashboard light came on that I had never seen before. I thought to myself, "I'm WAY too busy to deal with a car issue - I don't even have time to stop and check it out." Fortunately, I had the owner's manual right in the glove box. I looked up the symbol - it just needed air in the tires. I could easily manage that when I stop for gas.

***Guts are people too!

Welcome to you and your guts! My friend, Susan Hamblen, and I were talking the other day, planning for our upcoming Belly Wisdom workshop. Both of us are "inspired" by how often we hear people, clenching their bellies, say, "If only I could get rid of this!" or "If this would just go away!" or "I just hate this!"

***What the pH?

There's a lot of talk about pH, and some of it sounds so confusing, even contradictory, that it's hard to know what's true and what to do for what reasons. I'm going to try to shed a little light on the subject.r

***Beliefs can be changed by the Truth

Recently, I've been hearing more and more accounts of doctors and research studies concluding that the major contributing factor influencing Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Intestinal Permeability (Leaky Gut Syndrome) and other digestive dysfunction is Stress.

***The Power of Labels

I had a client a few years back who called herself a Parkinsonian. She had lived with Parkinson’s disease for 20 years. She was in her 70’s at the time, and her body was quite frail. She held a strong identity as a Parkinsonian and spoke fondly of her fellow Parkinsonians in her weekly support group. None held any possibility of healing. That’s not what they were there for. They had come together to create community around their disease. They had collectively agreed on the path the disease would take them on, and they were walking it together.

***The Nutrients of our Internal Soil

Farmers know that certain crops need certain nutrients in order to grow successfully. Winter is the time when cover crops are planted. Different cover crops and fertilizers provide different nutrients for the soil. Often combinations of crops and fertilizers are used to affix a complement of nutrients into the soil where the spring crops will be planted. A good soil farmer knows this is imperative to a bountiful harvest for the coming seasons.

***Emotions – Doorway to Darkness or Entrance to Enlightenment?

Have you ever sat at the beach and watched the waves – the rhythmic patterns of the swells, the ebbs and flows? I'm so blessed to live by the ocean again. I love watching the waves flowing onto the shore, drawing back to sea. It brings such a peaceful feeling. Sometimes emotions can be like the waves. The swells, the ebbs and flows. But they don't always feel so peaceful. Sometimes they feel really uncomfortable and scary. Like the waves, they can feel very powerful and even dangerous – especially when a storm is brewing.

***Earth Day: 7 Ways to Honor the Earth and Your Body

Where I grew up, pollution was so heavy, the sky glowed orange and the smell of burning chemicals lingered in the air. I was born in 1963 on the Texas Gulf Coast near a conglomeration of oil refineries. I remember my aunt exclaiming with great surprise when she bought a new car with a guarantee on the paint job. She lived across the street from the refineries, and the air pollution honestly was bad enough to fade paint from a new car within a year. No kidding!

***It's All in Your GUT's Mind

I know no one likes being told their dis-eases are "psychological," and I'm not here to tell you that everything is in your head. I realize there's more to it than that. However, your digestive system has a mind of its own, and it is wired to be heavily influenced by its mind. I'm not talking about the mind in your head - I'm talking about the mind in your gut.

***Knowing When to Say No - To Give or Not to Give?

[Watch the video: http://youtu.be/xq2ggIBZ3zU] In last week's video on Boundary Setting, we talked about the idea of putting up a wall of protection. This takes a lot of energy. It's exhausting! And would you really want to walk around barricaded, trapped inside a wall? Instead we want to be like the oak tree - strong and solidly rooted into the ground. We don't want to be the leaves that get blown about every time the wind blows. We want to be the trunk and the roots - firmly rooted into the earth, grounded solid in who we are. Then the wind can blow and blow and not upset us.
