How to Be Masterful at What You Do

To really play a big game in your business and make a great impact with your clients (and therefore your income), you must be really, really good at what you do. In Malcolm Gladwell’s book Outliers, he explains how those who are truly masterful at their skill or trade spend at least 10,000 hours doing that one thing consistently. That’s the equivalent of 10 years of doing one thing again and again. THAT is mastery. Mastery is infinitely more Client Attractive than mediocrity. You can’t be good, let alone masterful, at everything.

Two coaching styles: Advise and Consult or Ask clients to discover their own answers

As a business coach over the past 13 years, here’s what I have discovered: Everyone is silently begging to be led. Now there are two schools of coaching if you will: 1) The first says you cannot and should not advise. You must pull answers only from what the client says. 2) The second is more like consulting and I believe in this type because that’s what I pay for.

Did You Get Lazy In Marketing? (If You Want More Clients, Do What You USED To Do)

It’s a phenomenon that happens to most people in business for themselves after a few years. When solo-entrepreneurs first get started in marketing their business, they have gusto, they have energy, and many take a no-excuses approach to getting clients. They’re WILLING to do what it takes, and they do it often (most of them). But after a few years, they begin to rest on their laurels, they get lazy, and after a while, they stop doing what they used to do to get clients.

Get Past Procrastination: My 5 Steps to Getting It ALL Done

Have you ever looked at your to-do list and just wanted to run away? Sometimes, procrastination gets the best of us self-employed people. It seems that everything is priority and we tend to put some things on the back burner. The thing is, if the items on your to-do list have to do with marketing and Client Attraction, then you don’t want to ignore them (if you do, your pipeline of prospects will be empty in 6 months, or less). Procrastination creeps its ugly head in my business every now and then.

The best mindset for the sales conversation to attract clients

When you are ready to have the sales conversation with people and make sales calls, check your mindset before you even pick up the phone. What I have found works best is to come from your heart and a place of “giving” rather than about hoping to get something from the person on the other end of the line. Sometimes clients tell me they have trouble closing the sale which often comes with nervousness and fear of rejection.

Plan Out Your 3-Year Vision for Attracting Clients (and The Life You Really Want)

In practice building (and getting clients) it seems to be that most self-employed people just hope for the best. They simply keep doing what they’ve been doing and don’t have a strategy for creating the practice they’d be truly and deeply happy with. This is a big mistake in my opinion. I used to write down my goals each year, but it never really worked for me. I just didn’t feel really excited about my new goals. They didn’t seem to propel me in motion and so I kind of viewed them as being useless.

4 steps to find the best virtual assistant for your business

Hiring a virtual assistant (VA) to help you handle tasks that you can delegate is one the best ways to be able to grow your business. Taking this step frees up your time to focus on what you do best and attract more clients. But how do you choose the right VA? 1. Write down all the things you and your team are doing that is not the best use of your time. This is a bit tedious, but actually make a list of everything you do over two to three days or even a week. 2. Note the dollar amount next to each task that you would pay someone to do these things.

Do you struggle with commitment?

Do you waffle on the commitments you make? Maybe you make promises to yourself to clean your house or exercise regularly. You get started, but then in time, it fizzles out. This lack of commitment often stems from a self esteem issue. I saw a speaker this year who talked about this exact topic. She said, “Commitment equals results.” If you want to lose weight or get more clients, you need to look at your level of commitment around whatever it is you’re striving for.

When you have an email list (also called an ezine list) of several hundred and preferably, several thousands of people who are eager to hear from you, you now have people who will buy your products and services immediately and over time.

Become The ONE With The Flashlight In A Dark Cave (You’ll Never Be Without Clients)

While the media is searching out anything to create panic in the eyes of consumers, I want you to think about your own life. When you went to the mall last time, was it empty? What about popular restaurants? Could you hear crickets chirping? Personally, everywhere I go, I’m still waiting in line, I still wait ten minutes for a table, and I’m seeing people STILL buying a lot. In fact, to put it in perspective, our business has made more just last month than most people make all year. What “economy”? I’m telling you this to point out to you that the MEDIA wants you to be scared.

You Don’t Need to Learn MORE to Get Clients

“What you have to give is enough-if you give it with all your heart.”rn -Chieko N. They’d already gone through the required training, and many were certified, but it was like something strange was in the punch bowl and they were all drinking it: the “I’m Not Enough Yet” fruit punch. Here are some of the things I heard from some clients and workshop participants.

“Focus on the “Low Hanging Fruit”

Following up on leads is 90% of the game, right? At least that’s what we hear. You spend all this time networking, marketing yourself, making cold calls, looking for the right client, but what’s the point of it all if you don’t follow up on the leads you DO have? This was a major obstacle for one of my clients this week and a shift was created when I shared the Low Hanging Fruit List with her. Let’s think about Low Hanging Fruit on a tree for a moment, as it relates to its counterpart higher up on the tree.

To Turn More Prospects Into Paying Clients, You Must Give Them Options

When I was first starting out trying to close the sale as an solo-entrepreneur, I would offer only one rate and the offer was basically “this is what I charge, take it or leave it.” So people would either take it or leave it. Then I realized that clients work in a different way. Many people like options (I do too). They don’t want to be “forced” into taking something that doesn’t suit them. They want the option of small, medium or large. There’s also some psychology to it.
