Your Weekly Schedule

Step 1. Key components of your weekly schedule • Planning • Doing the work: parties, telephone calls, interviews with prospects, etc. • Administrative tasks • Self-development • Relaxing and recharging. Even without personally knowing you, I’m pretty confident that at least one of the items on that list is something you do not like to do and so you avoid it. When you find yourself starting to avoid one of these (maybe even to the extent of avoiding putting it on your calendar!), go back to your WHY and remind yourself.

Eleven Tips for a Successful Recruiting Conversation

1. Be prepared to discuss the opportunity, a lot, with everyone. Don't make assumptions about who will be interested. You never know who needs this: whose life will be turned around by this, just the way yours has been. 2. List the benefits you've received from joining your company. Reflect on this, write them down and keep that list with you always. 3. Next, learn the benefits other women have received. Add those to your list.r

One of My Biggest Business Lessons

One of my biggest lessons is that my business is constantly showing me where I carry wounds that need healing. And when I heal that wound, I feel great! I'm more secure and grounded in myself; I have more self-confidence. I have much less second-guessing and fewer imaginary conversations with other people inside my head. As I am healed, I'm able to heal others.

Move from Comparing to Succeeding

Comparing ourselves to other people - we've all done it at some point. When you're comparing yourself to someone, your mental dialog may sound like: Look at how great Sheila is doing! I can't believe how fast she's grown her business! I wish I could grow my business that fast. Of course, I've got [more kids, less time, less money] than she does. And then there's my volunteer work, etc.... And you might add in a bit of: And I wouldn't want what she has anyway, because I bet she doesn't have time for her family or she's not a nice person now.

Your Personal Economy

With the news media full of stories about economic ups and downs, this is a good time to take a deeper look at your personal economy. Regardless of what’s happening in the global economy, what is the state of your personal economy? How do you react to the economic news? When we hear bad news, our feelings often race ahead of our thinking. Take a minute and ask yourself: What is really at risk for me? If something is at risk, is it truly at risk right now, or am I worried about a future possibility that might or might not happen?

Ask For What You Want

Women often struggle with asking for what we want. We spend so much time helping other people. We're quick to pick up on what our friends, family, and colleagues want, and slow to understand what we want. Over time, we stop checking in with ourselves about what we ourselves truly want. We may be driven by our busy schedules - taking care of our business, our family, making sure there's food in the house and clean clothes in the closet.

How Are You Viewed As A Leader?

If you’re a direct seller leading a team, or a solopreneur who’s guiding your clients to successful transformation as well as working with a few virtual or in-person assistants /employees, you have probably asked yourself: “What are the qualities of an effective leader, and do I have them?” These are great questions, and you’ll find many, many resources to help you answer them. Paradoxically, you may turn out to be a BETTER leader if you flip that idea upside down and ask yourself “What do my team members most want from their leader?”r

The World Needs You!

I have spent the last couple weeks speaking in-depth with women entrepreneurs about their goals and what’s holding them back. Here’s what I see happening over and over again: women who are playing small. Super-duper, tiny small! Here are some of the ways this can show up in your sales and marketing, or your recruiting. • You’re uncertain how to describe the work you do. As a result, you feel anxious and insecure. Then you’re puzzled why people who say they need help don’t recognize you have that exact form of help!

Write to Keep in Touch

What is a keep-in-touch strategy and why do you need one? Ever meet someone who loves what you do, but isn't ready to buy your product or service right now? That person is your prospect. Prospects are very important to your business! They connect with you and they have a HIGH level of interest in what you offer. For whatever reason, they're not ready to buy from you right now. In the future, when they are ready, they will want YOU, not someone else. When your prospects become ready, you want to be at the top of their mind. How do you get there? By keeping in touch.

The Secret to True Productivity

I hear a lot of entrepreneurs complain that they're not being productive. They have a lot they want to accomplish, yet they feel that they're not getting enough done. They're mentally assessing their productivity and giving themselves a failing grade. They ask me: "How can I manage my time better?" Typically, what needs to be better managed is not time; it's your energy. If there's one aspect of your business where you consistently procrastinate; that you consistently avoid; that just doesn't get done - the answer is almost always to look at what your feelings are.

Release Your Inner Good Girl!

In our American culture, girls are encouraged to: Defer to authority: your parents, your teachers, your Girl Scout leader, etc. Follow the rules of whatever game or activity you’re involved in. Color in between the lines, not outside. Pay attention to other people’s feelings. Respond to the hurt or pain of others. Avoid interrupting people. When you grow up being consistently encouraged to listen to others first, one common side effect is that you never develop faith in your own opinions, decision-making or intuition.

My Angel Story

I was visited by my own personal angel or spirit guide, who came into my life out of nowhere, and left just as suddenly. That was my cat, Troy. When I adopted him, he was very skittish and so nervous about how I would treat him. He spent the first two weeks under the bed, full-time. Then he came out but needed to maintain a safe distance of about 10 feet away from me at all times. Fast forward to when he was cuddled beside me on the sofa for hours, alte ating between encouraging me to pet him and dozing. He had come a long, long way!

Developing an Attitude of Self-Confidence

Have you noticed that the most successful women entrepreneurs have a different way of talking, thinking and being than you do? By changing your attitudes and your actions, right now. The good news is that we each have the power to change, and we can start changing whenever we want, for example, NOW.

What's Your Most Important 20%? (Part 1 of 2)

Many businesses have an easy access to dramatic improvements in profitability by focusing on the most effective areas and eliminating, ignoring, automating, delegating or re-training the rest, as appropriate. The Pareto Principle states that 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes. The distribution shows up in several different aspects relevant to entrepreneurs and business managers. For example: 80% of your profits come from 20% of your customers 80% of your complaints come from 20% of your customers 80% of your profits come from 20% of the time you spend

Do you feel like you're stuck and you haven't been moving forward financially? If so, you're probably suffering from the 3 Ps. The Cycle of Business Growth

Growing your business is a spiral process, where you go through certain phases, then repeat them again. Note that it's not a straight line and also there's no arrival. Success is not a place you arrive so much as it is a journey. The first stage of a growth cycle is discontent. You're not satisfied with the current state of your business. You want more of something: more clients, more income, more reach. That could look like: you don't have enough clients or enough income. Or you're holding back; you're not fully sharing your passionate purpose with the world.

• Want to have a thriving business? • Want to attract prosperity? • Want to have an expansive, abundant mindset? Practice excellent self-care. What is self-care? It has many forms: it means getting enough sleep, providing yourself with high-quality, nutritious and beautiful food, taking appropriate action when you don't feel well. Each of us is shaped by our family beliefs, expectations and behaviors. These are often passed down through multiple generations. This course covers all areas of your existence -- religion, career, style, success, whom to marry or not to marry, pleasure, friends, health, and so on. This course is quite complete; we're in class daily and assigned homework by experienced teachers, usually our parents.

Are You Making These Selling Mistakes? - Part 2

Today's article is about how to replace those mistakes with a better approach, one that improves your sales results. You can read the prior article here. To recap, the 3 false beliefs I see so often are: 1.Anyone will be interested in my product/service and want to buy it. 2.If I just get the chance to explain my product/service's benefits, people will be convinced and buy it. 3. If I could just learn the right words, I could persuade prospects to accept my offer (buy my product/service or join my team or whatever). Remember - these are all FALSE beliefs.

Am I Being Too Pushy?

Here's a common problem I see among my clients, and women in general. I don't want to be pushy. I don't want to toot my own horn. The clients who tell me this are so worried about it, that they have fled in entirely the opposite direction and have become invisible. Here's the problem invisibility poses for entrepreneurs: If no one knows what you offer or who you are or what you value, they can't become your clients (or your friends or trusted colleagues)!

The Bumpy Road to FAITH

I recently attended an amazing conference, SEVEN, intended to help entrepreneurs create seven-figure businesses. The conference was run by some coaches that I wanted to see live and in person and experience their message face-to-face instead of email. Plus my ticket was free and the conference was right down the road. I was in! I got so much out of the conference that, when they made the audience an offer on the last day, I jumped on it! I decided that yes, I would pay $14,700 to join their next program for speakers.

Your Personal Brand: What Do People Think of, When They Think of You?

What do people think of when they think of you? Your sense of humor, your fashion sense, your common sense, your enthusiasm? This is your brand. Do solopreneurs even have brands? As it turns out, we EACH have a brand - our personal brand (also sometimes called a micro-brand). You ALWAYS have a brand - the question is whether you are consciously creating it, or ignoring it. Why consciously create your brand?

Procrastination - Styles and Strategies for Change

Procrastination is about managing your energy; it's not about managing your time. Otherwise, you could put that task you've been avoiding on your to-do list, prioritize it, and actually get it done. But it doesn't happen that way, does it? When you're procrastinating, one part of you wants to do that task (because you know that it will help your business) and another part of you wants to not do it. And the not doing part is winning.

In my last ezine article, Whats Your Most Important 20 Percent, the article was based on where your 20 Percent effort was most effective. Now we are focusing on whether 80% of your sales come from 20% of your clients or does 20% of your team members produce 80% of your team's sales and/or provide 80% of your team's recruits? The 20% of the causes, which create your sales, recruits, or whatever results you value, is sometimes referred to as your "vital few" and the other 80% of your causes as the "trivial many".

Are You Ready to Receive?

In order to do, be, and have what you want, the first step is asking and the second step is receiving. Receiving requires both the belief that you deserve your gift and that you be willing to accept it. What if you have been asking (clearly, consistently, and continuously) and haven't been receiving what you want? Often that's because we have trouble accepting what we want to get. So much trouble, that we manage to never actually obtain what we say we want!

The Power of Positive Praise

You will have stronger, more enduring relationships with your clients and team members if you praise them 5-10 times as often as you say something negative. The same holds true for your marriage and probably your parenting. The sweet spot for healthy relationships is to offer 5 times as much positive feedback as negative feedback. In a given day, you might point out one negative thing that bugs you and offer 5 compliments about what you like. Giving more negative feedback than positive feedback is a characteristic of teams with low performance and of divorced couples.

Find Your Focus

This is what a problem with FOCUS looks like and feels like. This focus problem is paradoxical for entrepreneurs, because you have a STRONG desire to control your own schedule and work independently, yet you're struggling DAILY to get your to-do list done! If you spend a lot of time feeling unfocused, you're going to feel dissatisfied, big time - after all, you're not moving yourself toward your goal - instead you're doing lots of other things. You'll also feel frustrated with yourself and ask "How come I don't have any self-discipline?".

Grow from Your Strengths

My recent AHA is that growth comes from focusing relentlessly on the positive. That's a big change for me. I've spent a lot of time reflecting on my past, to try to understand it and learn whatever lesson is there for me. Now I'm realizing how limited the usefulness of that approach is. For the past few months, I've been focusing on how great my present is, and on the wonderful possibilities that the future contains. As a result, I always have a smile on my face and I feel like I've dropped about 10 pounds of stress.

What makes a leader?

How could you detect other forms of leadership, if they didn’t come with a big office, impressive title, and opportunity to boss people around? Leadership comes from within. It’s not something you do to other people. It’s the way you live – the way you think, speak and act. When your energy and abilities combine with someone who’s on the same path, amazing things can happen!
