Hello Service Professionals, Small Businesses Owners and Entrepreneurs

Welcome to Self growth's Business Coaching. I’m deeply committed to inspiring and equipping my community to excel in work and life. As a Small Business and Communication Success Strategist, MBA and Certified Book Yourself Solid Coach I work as counsel and coach to small business professionals to help them develop a loyal community through no and low cost marketing including marketing their business using speaking and demonstrating.

There is no better, low cost way to market your business and services then telling people what you do.... I’ve been writing, speaking and coaching on business success through respectful communication to inspire, influence and transform yourself and others for years. (No need to mention how many is there?)

Writing, speaking and demonstrating are the quickest ways to leverage your time and expertise. For a small business, time really is money, so I don't waste time on empty platitudes. My interactive private coaching, public events and workshops use systems, tools and examples based on a long career in business consulting. As communications director for Michael Port, author of 4 best sellers including "Book Yourself Solid" and over a decade as an Associate with Michael Grinder, one of the foremost authorities on non-verbal communication I've learned what it takes to speak to sell your services and products.

Are you terrified of speaking in public? Does telling others what you do and what you can offer them make you weak in the knees? Learn how to talk about what you do with easy, simple to remember techniques….

I've recently written a book. My book What Your Body Says (and How to Master the Message) is available at www.WhatYourBodySays.com. Published by John Wiley and Sons, What Your Body Says (and how to master the message) gives you the straight-up “how-to” on having your body match what your mouth is saying. Strong leaders know that communicating with confidence and clarity are keys to gain recognition, build stronger work relationships and deliver high-value results… confidence and clarity begin when you have mastered the verbal and nonverbal components of your message.

What Your Body Says is written to give you a clear and simple process to follow, all drawn from an intense study of how verbal and nonverbal language impacts people's lives and emotions. Filled with useful tools, strategies, and techniques,

This book gives you the keys to —
* Acquire confidence, project self-esteem and self-concept to project a positive image
* Establish trust and credibility for stronger work relationships
* Speak intelligently while looking smart, engaging and real
* Deliver unpleasant messages without pain or guilt
* Having a committee meeting and getting something done
* And more

Join me each Tuesday morning at 10 am Pacific I have fun interviewing dynamic communicators on BlogTalkRadio’s Beyond Lip Service www.BeyondLipServiceRadio.com. We get to "pick the brains" of some amazing and accomplished people to learn their success secrets.

I am co-owner of Impression Engineers, www.impressionengineers.com, a company dedicated to service professionals and small businesses to help them build an online market place and community.

Imagine this scenario: You are up on stage, being introduced, it’s your time, your moment to shine. And in a fleeting moment of panic, you realize, now what do I do with my hands as I stand here listening to this amazing introduction about me? All eyes are on you! Now, what?

You are well into another meeting and suddenly the solution strikes you. Youre ready. Now is your time to shine! Youve just got a brilliant idea! Finally, a solution to the problem the team‚ has been struggling with. You present your idea, but no one seems to pay much attention, they just keep on going kicking around ideas. Out of the blue, that guy sitting across the table (you know the one) actually interrupts and paraphrases what you just said no more than five minutes ago. And suddenly, its his idea. Hes the genius‚ not you.

The voice is one of the most powerful tools you have to inspire and influence others. It is also one tool that often is unconsciously misuse. The voice has the ability to convey emotion, to give directions, to inspire and motivate others, to make things happen, to attract people and to discourage people. There are conscious things you can do to make certain your voice non-verbals match the words you say. With your voice, verbal communication is the words, and the non-verbal is everything else.

Have you ever walked away from a person, event or situation and felt confused, and the experience made you feel uncomfortable and uncertain? You are not alone. Most likely, the subconscious cues—the nonverbals you saw—didn’t match what you heard. So what to believe, your eyes or your ears? If you are like most people, you believed your eyes. Words are only a small part of communication. The most influential part of communication is your nonverbals, so it is important to understand what messages your nonverbals are sending.

So often the message your listener receives is not the message you sent…or meant to send. Why? Because we all have our own unique filters that delete, distort, and generalize what was said and heard. If the message you sent wasn’t received the way you intended, it’s time to take a look at your nonverbal signals, or gestures. Nonverbal signals reveal more than words can say. So it’s important to choose your signals... and not let them choose you. Avoid gestures that are random movements. * Make sure your gestures are intentional.r

Location, Location, Location, Location “Location, location, location" is a common phrase that’s used when referring to real estate. It’s repeated three times to emphasize how important location is to the resale value of a home. The fact that we repeat it four times when talking about communicating bad news tells you how extremely important it is in using nonverbal gestures to deliver bad news or present a controversial topic. If you want to be the messenger who DOESN’T get shot, remember…location, location, location, location. There are four gestures of location:

“…If thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought…”rn~George Orwell At times, things just come out of my mouth… and it’s not until it falls out of my mouth that I’m aware it has an assumption (or two.) Last week, I was trying to express myself to my friend Sparks; it just wasn’t as clear as it could have been.

A moment of back-story, I was really tired after my trip to Doylestown and helping Michael Port launch “The Think Big Manifesto.” I’m not sure why as I like to think I work hard every day but for some reason after this trip I was burned out. Now don’t get me wrong, throughout that week, I learned and experienced so much, it is priceless. And I just love Michael, Julie, and the whole rest of the wonderful crew yet, to be honest, I was burned-out.

It seems to me these days that most people are complaining about something…usually something that is really none of their business…. I’m not here to talk politics, but does it really matter if someone’s hair is out-of-style—out-of-style according to whom??? Maybe it’s coming back in style, does it really matter? I have an acquaintance that complains about everything, the server’s voice tone is not friendly enough, the soup is too hot… nothing is ever okay – except of course – he’s perfect, if you ask him. It’s the mindset that matters.

Sometimes a character from a movie just utters a great line that makes you stop and think… “There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.” Who are you? What do you stand for? More importantly, how do you show what you stand for to the world? I had to answer those questions while in Philly last week for my certification in the Book Yourself Solid Coaching Program.

My friend Stephen attended a workshop over last weekend. As he relayed the event, he commented that the instructor had a favorite response to many questions… “Your choice.” It is our choice, isn’t it? Yet, life doesn’t always feel as simple as those two words make it seem. Sometimes, you have to make hard choices and sometimes the right choice isn’t very clear. Thinking about making a tough choice, first try to reflect on the law of unintended consequences… each time a choice is made other things will change.

I’m sitting here serving jury duty and can’t do my regular routine. (I’m not opposed to doing my civic duty, it’s just the timing.) Sitting here is leaving me feeling swamped with my To Do List and sucked-under… lots to do, plus it’s finally summer here in Oregon (we get so little summer, it is hard to buckle down.) Well, what to do when surrounded by quicksand, alligators and swamped….

How to get started

Design The Business and Life You Desire.

Hey, I know… I hear it a lot… many business owners today feel overwhelmed, overworked, burnt-out and tired of trying to figure it all out. Sometimes you can get so engrossed in "figuring-it-out," things can be overlooked—the "not being able to see the forest, but for the trees syndrome…" Consider coaching. I like to call my style of business coaching Courage Under Fire Coaching...

Why a business coach? Courage Under Fire Coaching brings you an extremely valuable resource — a different perspective. I care about my clients and their businesses, but I don’t have the same emotional attachment or overwhelm by your day-to-day details and company breakdowns, as you do…. Coaching is a support system based in powerful, action-oriented conversations, systems and tools. Coaching empowers you to experience your potential more quickly, easily and joyfully. It provides accountability, a sounding board, and a safe place to brainstorm.

Even as you achieve a high level of success, coaching is an ongoing tool that empowers you to move from where you are now to where you want to be.
Courage Under Fire Coaching is based on four "C’s":

- Gain Clarity to know who you are and what you want

- Maintain Commitments of follow through and taking action

- Develope Confidence to take one action step after another to Success

- Move through life with Courage as you transform the present into the Future You Deserve!

"Sharon Sayler combines uniquely insightful behavioral and communication coaching skills with the Book Yourself Solid system making her the choice for professionals, business owners and executives who want to design their own life — with her unique set of tools you can quickly become more effective and compelling in your business and personal life.” — Michael Port

Coaching is a powerful tool for change. Get unstuck. Set and achieve goals. Know that coaching is not therapy. It is…

* The accountability that most of us need to keep us on track.
* An outside observer that can offer a different perspective.
* Conversation that creates Synergy that creates Momentum = Your Goals.
* Brings the experience of others, new ideas and skills = Your Success.
