E-G-O is Edging God Out

Last but not least is the idea of ego. I learned what ego stands for in a book by Dr. Wayne Dyer. When we live completely out of our ego, we are living blindly, in denial about the reflection of God that we were created to be from the very beginning. Our ego is centered on what we have been taught from the examples of others as we were growing up. It has nothing at all to do with our spirit or our heart.
Ego tells us, “It’s all about me, me, me!” “My feelings are hurt because of the names you called me!” “You made me mad because of what you did!” “I am better than you because I have money and a fancy car and a beautiful home!” “I have to win, because losers are failures!” And on and on, ad nauseum . First of all, the world revolves around nobody. Your feelings are only hurt if you choose to feel hurt. Nobody can make anybody mad unless that person chooses to be mad. And, excuse me, but just because someone didn’t win, doesn’t mean they are a loser. People who make an effort to do anything can never be a loser. Nobody, given their concept of the world, is a loser. There is no such thing. The only power others have over you is the power you give them. We teach others how to treat us! That’s a thought to ponder, for sure.

Ego denies the value of diversity. It denies the fact that there is only one race; it’s called the “human” race. Ego believes in aggressiveness rather than assertiveness. An aggressive person is one who steps on others’ toes and fingers on the way up the ladder in life, without considering the hurt and damage it does to others. An assertive person is one who will grab the hand of those behind them and pull them up the ladder with them.

Ego has no conscious understanding that there is no need for comparison. There is no need to judge. There is no reason to ask, “Why?” Ego doesn’t understand that sometimes there are no definitive answers to that question. The answer is usually immaterial anyway. The results most people seek are created from the “What?”, “How?” and “When?” questions that spring forth from within their creative, resolution-seeking selves.

We have to be “out of our minds” in order to stop living from within our ego. We have to literally get outside our mind, down to the very core of our essence (our spirit) in order to live an emotionally healthy, spiritually sound, self-evolved, conscious, wholly healed life. Remembering that S-E-L-F stands for Spirit Expressing Living Fully will help us to strive towards living our truest, highest reflection of Who We Truly Are. We are God in human form, living and experiencing life the way He would if He were here on this planet in a human body. How we choose to live our lives and how often we choose to remember our True Essence is totally up to us. Fear, Anger, Denial and Ego are all limitations we put on ourselves and others when we forget to live from within the centeredness of that True Essence.
