Feeling the Bumps in the Road

We have all had a moment in life (or several of them) where things didn’t go according to plan. We set up a scenario in our mind. We visualized the outcome happening exactly how we would like it to. And we waited for everything to unfold beautifully.
And then reality set in. The universe had something else in mind. And things took a very different turn.
Our response to this new outcome is the only part of the outcome that we can control.
We may feel disappointed, angry, sad, frustrated, deflated – these are all completely normal feelings to have. And we must go through this process and truly embrace these feelings to move forward and grow. We may be questioning ourselves and our faith in situations such as these. We may wonder how wonderful the universe could truly be if it would make such a mess of your outcome – your dream – your hopes. This is also normal and completely healthy and necessary to feel.
And at some point in this process, after we have had time to grieve the fact that our desired outcome didn’t happen, we get to go within. We get to explore the possible lessons that are a result of things occurring the way they did:
1. Is it that we need to lessen our hold on controlling the outcome?
2. Is it that we need to have more faith in the universe and truly surrender to it?
3. Is it that we need to learn humility and know that so much more is happening than what we can see and have information about?
4. Is it that we need to remember that everything always occurs in exactly the right moment for exactly the right reason?
And even if we aren’t able to see the reason right now, just knowing that it exists and is on the horizon hopefully is enough to make us feel a bit better in this moment.
That is where I am today, and this is what I am taking away from things not going according to plan – my plan, that is.
Let go.
Breathe.
Pick myself back up.
And trust in the master plan – where everything always works out.
