At some point in our lives, we all have experienced some form of inferiority complex at school, work or home with friends or family. This emotion of feeling generally inadequate or on occasions supposed inferiority in some aspect can bring you down and depress you. All too often, this negative emotion may dominate you leaving you feeling morose and unconfident. Consequently, you may start to demonstrate aggressive behaviour towards others in compensation for your own lack of self-worth. Often, the source of these feelings lie in peer comparison, jealously, lack of self-confidence, having negative thoughts about yourself or wanting to be like others. If you are tired of feeling this way about yourself and desperately seeking to resolve or eradicate this emotions from your life then try some of these simple steps: 1) Begin by trying to change your opinions about yourself and by adopting a positive attitude towards yourself. We all have vast amount of energy within us, and just need to draw upon this from within us. Anyone can achieve anything: all you have to do is change your mind-set and pool the energy within you. 2) Keep maintaining from within “I do have the ability in myself and I can achieve it”. 3) Do not listen to your intellect (your thoughts) which are inclined to adverse thinking. Intellect will show things like ‘she is better than me’, ‘Look they have so much more in life then I do’, ‘I am not clever as he is’, ‘I want to be like him, instead’. Instead of wasting so much time immersed in negative thoughts, why not ponder on the positive from the start – that “I can and I will”? 4) Have a firm determination in yourself and in your own ability – where you feel weak or during lowness, you must maintain the highest level of awareness with a strong intent not to surrendering. 5) Remain sincere to your aim – there are many distractions in life which can draw you away from your purpose or goal, but you must remain focussed. And not lose sight of the positive outcomes you are seeking. 6) Overall if you want happiness then you must give happiness. Think back to when you might have helped someone, how did you feel at that time? Similarly, making others happy will directly result in your own happiness as this only fosters positivity. Ultimately, if you are seeking for permanent freedom from worldly entanglements - Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan, an enlightened being has ‘Master Keys’, as to how you can assess negative emotions relating to anger, pride, deceit, greed, attachment and abhorrence. These negative emotions are the core sources of your own downfall and feelings of inferiority. They are the direct cause of pain and suffering and perpetual reason behind our inability to gain freedom from the materiality of our human lives. Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan had mentioned about confidence: "As you imagine, so will you be." When you say to yourself, "My health is good," then you will feel better. Likewise if you say, "I am not feeling well," then you will feel worse. So you will become as you imagine.
