THE ART OF PRANAYAM
Pranayam is the root of spiritual knowlege......THE KNOWLEGE OF THE SELF (Atma gyaan).
pranayam is a sure step to self realisation,,,,,,,frees you from the disharmony ofrnpleasure and pain.
pranayam means the control of breath.......the life force energy.
pranayam is an ART OF BREATHING.........the life force energy is indrawn gently and
evenly distributed throughout the body, just like mother caring her child.
.
in the above example, mother is the chitta..the consciousness observing her child..
the breath. The mother is mentally alert, observing him minutely while remaining
completely relaxed.
The sadhak has to learn to relax his spiritual body by practiCing YOGASANAS BEFORE
learning the art of breathing....THE PRANAYAM.
The subject of controling breathing........THE PRANAYAM VIDYA.
PRANA is the inflowing breath. APANA Is the outgoing breath.
KUMBHAK is a pause between an in and out breath. It also means the withdrawal ofrnthe intellect from the organs of perception and action, to focus on the seat of the
atma (purusa)....the origin of consciousness.
Kumbhak has to be done with the brain relaxed so as to revitalise the nervous system.
When THE breath is stilled in kumbhak, the senses are stilled and the mind becomes
silent......Breath is the bridge between the body, senses and the mind.
- PURAK....PRAN and APAN UNITE IN THE INTAKE OF BREATH.
-
KUMBHAKA
-
- RECHAK....APAN COMES IN CONTACT WITH THE PRAN andr
FLOWS OUT IN EXHALATION...The empty state.
In Kumbhak, the PRAN vibrates in the torso, but the chitta is kept relaxed and ready
to let6 go or let in the breaTH.
The aim of Kumbhak is to restrain the breath.During this moment, speech, perception
and hearing are controlled.the chitta ion this state is free from passion, hatred,
greed and lust, pride and envy.prana and chitta become one in kumbhak.
Kumbhak is the urge to bring-OUT the latent(concealed) divinity in the BODY...THE
ABODE OF ATMAN.
Absorbing this knowledge by experience, the yogi(sadhak) makes pranayam vidya a part
of his wisdom(buddhi). He finally offers his knowledge, wisdom, his very life breath
and his SELF as oblation to the DIVINE......ATMAHUTI........THE STATE OF KEVAL
KUMBHAK......A STATE OF ABSOLUTE SURRENDER.
THE YOGI NOW IS ABSORBED IN ADORATION OF THE LORD.He expoeriences a spark of divinity.
He feels the oneness of body, breath and self. There is no awareness that time is passing.
The saDHAK EXPERIENCES FREEDOM FROM CAUSE AND EFFECT.
The vital energy of sadhak does not escape when kumbhak is done with the BANDHAS.
MULA BANDHA AND UDDYAN BANDHAS ARE SUGGESTED BY THE YOGIS TO STOP DISSIPATION OF DIVINE
ENERGY.
