Talk is Cheap

Have you ever caught yourself saying the same thing over and over? Things like: I’d like to change careers or start a business... BUT... * I don’t know what I should do; I only know its not this... * I’m afraid I won’t be able to make enough money and do something I love. * I’m too old, young, rich, poor, educated, uneducated, and on and on.... I would really love to <insert your greatest passion> (travel, write, indulge in finer things, etc.) more BUT... * I’m pinching every penny and maybe I’ll get to do that someday when I retire.r

Live Like You Don’t Need the Money

When someone says the "M" word ("money"), what sort of reaction do you have? If you’re like most people with a pulse that are drawing breath, you likely have some sort of charge about it. After all we have given money SO much power over us that when we think of it the emotions and thoughts can be overwhelming. As I say the word money to you, what immediately pops into your head? * Not enough, lack, scarcity * Greed * It rules my life and has me in its grips * Money is bad, unspiritual, dirty

Lessons from Rudy the Dog

Earlier this week was our meditation gathering and once again the teachings that showed themselves were loud, clear, and poignant. It always astounds me just how much wisdom is within and all around us when we just stop to listen. If we can do that within the context of a circle of like ...

Making Peace With The Unknown

"It'll be OK". "Everything will work out for the best." "You'll be just fine." How often do we quickly utter these words to comfort ourselves or someone else? How do we really know it'll be ok? Are we (at least on some subconscious level) simply reassuring ourselves that whatever happens ...

Why You Are Called to Live a Radical Life

Why are you here? By here I mean on this planet, in this body, living your one precious life at this time in history? Do you know? It’s OK if you can’t articulate it, but on some level you know. This I can guarantee you. And you are meant to live your life fully in a way that expresses that big Why. How do you know if you are aligned with your big Why? Well, if you are not on the path that is meant for you, you find yourself feeling: • Frustrated • Hopeless • Like you are dying on the vine • Bored • Discontent • Like you should give up, what does it matter anyway…

Do You Possess the Poise of a Leader?

The really great leaders in all disciplines tend to have a great deal of poise. I was watching women's basketball nonstop when March Madness comes down to the wire. I am reminded once again how powerful grace under pressure can be. Merriam Webster Dictionary defines poise as: Easy self-possessed assurance of manner: gracious tact in coping or handling; b: a particular way of carrying oneself I particularly like the "easy self-possessed assurance" as a particular way of carrying oneself. That is the essence of the poise I am talking about.

20 Ways to Eliminate Stress at Work

The workplace can be a stressful place. Between personality differences, “one-size-fits-all” working environments (think: introverts hate open office floor plans), and having to always “do more with less” while wondering if your job is really secure, work can pile on stress like no other. According to the article “Making a Business Case for Mindfulness”: “Stress in the workplace is at epidemic levels, costing businesses an estimated $2,800 per employee every year.” Yet there truly are ways to find balance and peace along the journey.

4 Ways You Can Benefit From Having A Coach And Mentor

Last weekend I was in Tampa, Florida for the first of several in-person events as part of a year long EnergyRich® Elite Mastermind Group I joined. The group and the event was unbelievably spectacular and I felt it was a great time to write a bit about the benefits of working with someone (or a facilitated group) who can be a coach and mentor to you along your journey. First let me share with you that I did not take joining this group lightly. It is the most significant investment of time and money I have made to a program in my life (and that's saying something).

Do You Have An Appetite For Your Life?

I admit it, when I read the book Eat, Pray, Love I loved it. Last weekend I went to see the movie Eat, Pray, Love, and I loved that too, but in a different way. Frankly I could leave it at that and say I've been deeply moved by both these pieces of creative work. Yet there is something far bigger and important going on here with the release of the movie that can't just be swept under the rug. Two very important lessons that no one is talking about that I want to share with you...

The Real Bottom Line

I was listening to Michael Port’s book "Beyond Booked Solid" today en route to a meeting. He made one statement that truly sums up my philosophy. As he was talking about how to boost your income, streamline your processes, and take your business to the next level he said "The real bottom line is your life." Meaning, the real bottom line when it comes to everything you do is your life - how you experience your days, the relationships you have, and your ability to truly enjoy living.

Sometimes You Need to Retreat to Move Forward

In this hard charging, never stop world we live in it can seem like if you stop to catch your breath for even a second, you’ll be run over by the tide of people trying to get ahead of you. Getting ahead, getting where you want to go, achieving more, and maybe even having more... If you stopped to catch your breath, take a weekend (or longer) away, or simply claimed some solid time just for YOU, do you find yourself feeling:r

What Makes a Well-Lived Life?

For you - personally - what would you consider a well-lived, full life? Do you know? Or, do you avoid the question altogether and just shuffle through the day to day? This week as I attended my grandmother’s funeral I was reminded once again of how quickly even 89 years can go by. And of course none of us know if we have another 80 years ahead of us or another 8 minutes. So, how do you want to be remembered? What do you want your life to have stood for? Perhaps the ultimate "begin with the end in mind" exercise is the one I am going to share with you today.

Are You Doing What You CAN Do?

This week I thought about this question quite a bit. As a love of nature and especially animals, I was struck with a conflict. As I was mowing the lawn on Monday I startled a sick and injured robin. It hobbled toward a tree and just sat there. I watched this poor thing sit there scared and hop back and forth attempting to fly, fluttering into the neighbor’s fence, and basically sitting still with its head drooped. It just pained me to no end to watch this. I thought for sure by morning it would have died. In fact I even dug a mini grave for it in anticipation.

Are You Letting Others Tell You Who You Should Be?

I recently had the opportunity to speak with a large audience of individuals in the midst of career transition. These folks ranged from people who desperately needed a job because they had been out of work for a long time to people pro-actively seeking to reinvent their professional and personal lives. One theme that ran throughout all their stories was that they were being told by "experts" that they have to be someone they are not if they want to be successful. These tidbits of so-called well-meaning advice looked like:
