Make Better Decisions Through the Power of Muscle Testing

At some point during your day, you have decisions to make. From the minute you wake up you are likely making decisions. Many are done by rote, while others take considerable thought with lots in between. Decisions like what to wear for a key meeting, to what foods to add to tonight’s menu, to what route to take to work when we hear on the morning news that traffic is horrific on the regular route we take. Wouldn’t it be great to have a “super friend” who could do that for us? Actually, we do. It’s called muscle testing.

Create Your Own Morning Ritual

It seems wherever you turn, people are talking about morning rituals. Whether it’s the Miracle Morning created by Hal Elrod, the 20/20/20 from Robin Sharma or the 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins, morning rituals are all the rage. I’m a proponent of a healthy morning ritual. One that I can easily implement by rising 30 – 60 minutes earlier than normal. One that I can share with my clients to help them have a more balanced life. Usually, morning rituals consist of movement, jou aling, meditating and often prayer. One client likes to add into hers the 30-Second Gut Flush I taught her.

You’re Not Just What You Eat… You’re Also What You Drink

Most people know they need to drink more water in the summer, but amazingly, they pull back in fall and winter. This could be wreaking havoc on their health. Regardless of the season, you need to drink a minimum amount of water to sustain good, let alone great health. The question of how much water to consume is one that is as confusing as what type of vitamins to take, what foods to eat for optimum health and how much sleep we need.

The Shocking Truth About How Much Water You Really Need

Most people don’t consume enough water. This is evident by the number of people who complain about headaches, lack of energy, sleepiness mid-day, and other easily remedied conditions that proper hydration can address. Yet, most people grab a pill, energy bar or some type of caffeinated drink to give them a much needed boost. Amazingly, water could more than likely fix the problem. That’s not to say water will fix 100% of the health problems we deal with, but lack of water can create preventable health issues. How Much is Enough?

Intuitive Eating The Food Codes™ Way

5 Simple Steps to Set Successful New Year's Resolutions

January is the month that countless men and women say, “This year will be different.” With all the sincerity they can muster, they go headlong into one, or more, resolutions. According to Forbes.com contributor, Ashira Prossack, “The statistics on how many people actually follow through and accomplish their New Year’s resolutions are rather grim. Studies have shown that less than 25% of people actually stay committed to their resolutions after just 30 days, and only 8% accomplish them.”

Why Eating Mindfully is So Powerful

Have you ever eaten with someone who is slow and deliberate while eating? They savor every bite. They may even close their eyes in a form of quiet reflection while eating. Chances are they are doing what is called “mindful eating.” Simply put, mindful eating is consciously paying attention to every bite that goes into your mouth. Instead of eating mindlessly, stuffing bite after bite food into your mouth in a robotic way, you notice every flavor, texture and sensation from your meal.

Weight Gain is Often Due to “What’s Eating You”

Over the last decade, it has become increasingly obvious that obesity is on the rise. According to the most recent National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 18.5% of children and nearly 40% of adults had obesity in 2015–2016. In a recent article by Amy Norton, published on the WebMD site, after a brief leveling off period, obesity is once again on the rise. Although it appeared as if the rise plateaued in recent years, that was short-lived. If nothing changes, it is estimated that half of all U.S. teenagers will be overweight or obese by 2030. Over half! That’s alarming.

What Does Your Body Require?

Did you know your body has different requirements for food in the hot summertime than it does in the cold of winter? It’s true. Your body probably needs light, cooling foods in the summer, like fruits, vegetables, and raw foods, and requires less food than at other times of the year. If you live where the winters are cold, your body needs complex or concentrated foods that create heat in the winter, like meats, grains, and beans. And you might need to eat more food in the winter than in the summer.

Where Does Your Food Really Come From?

Have you ever gone to a restaurant and watched people eat? Really watched? Most people are so unconscious of the way they are filling their bodies (by way of their meals) they are what we can classify as unconscious eaters. It’s the same with where our food comes from. Ask most people where food comes from and they don’t really know. They are unconscious shoppers. We have become incredibly disconnected from our food. Many children and a lot of adults don’t know where food actually comes from. They’ve never taken time to learn this. They assume the food is going to show up.

The Truth about Enriched and Fortified Foods

It’s easy to get confused with terminology used to describe food. Take the words enriched and fortified. On the surface, they sound like words we want associated with the foods we consume but digging deeper may reveal a completely different story. Fortified and enriched foods were introduced in 1930s and 1940s. They were intended to help boost vitamin and mineral intake with foods that adults and children were already eating, like grains and milk.

It seems everywhere we look, we have evidence of the stress of everyday living. Many people have incorporated the mantra, “I’ll get around to it tomorrow,” into conversations when confronted with the need to address their stressors. The Correlation to What You Consume and How You Feel

Do you ever feel “out of sorts?” This is when, for all outward appearances, nothing is wrong, but you just feel like something is off. Maybe you feel anxiety one moment, depression the next. You might feel down for no apparent reason. It could be the feeling of wanting to go back to bed and pull the covers over your head. This is not uncommon and unfortunately, becoming more frequent for many people of all ages and backgrounds. Consider this, how you feel is directly related to what you consume. Not only what you eat, but what you read, watch and listen to.

Chances are, those eating the SAD diet– Standard American Diet – have one thing missing from their plate…beans. Beans are associated with better health, increased (and healthy) bowel movements due to amount of fiber they contain, and longevity. It Takes Guts to Be Healthy

Have you ever watched the commercial where there’s a group of good-looking friends out for dinner and the really good-looking guy has an upset stomach from what he ate? Rather than addressing the cause, the guy talks about how he popped a little pill and the problem is gone. He smiles, orders more of the very food that caused the upset stomach, bloating and gas and happily goes about the festivities. Problem solved. Not so fast. The problem is not gone, it’s merely covered up.

Is Stress Making You Fat and Sick?

“Don’t eat so much.” “All you need is willpower.” “Just resist temptation.” How often have we heard things like this from well-intentioned loved ones? Often, overeating has nothing to do with willpower or avoiding temptation. It has to do with the level of stress you are dealing with. And the more people tell us to eat less, the more stressed we tend to be. General stress coupled with emotional stress is associated with innumerable problems including overeating, binge eating and stuffing resulting in being overweight, even obese.

Get ready for seasonal change The 30 Second Gut Flush Detox Recipe

It’s that time of year where the holidays are either a reason to indulge or the catalyst to finally commit to becoming your healthiest self. The end of the year and the shifting of seasons should be a prompt to look more deeply inside ourselves. For most, the commitment lasts a week or two, maybe a month if your “really” committed. Then the conversation begins; “I’ll start after the holidays.” Then it’s, “I’ll start on January 1st.” Soon it’s, “After Valentine Day.” And on and on. When I mentioned looking more deeply inside yourselves, I’m talking physically inside yourself.

The Bliss Point in Food is Incredibly Harmful to You

They love the taste of certain foods but hate the guilty feelings they get knowing these foods are not very healthy for them. They love the rush they get when they take a bite into something filled with sugar, but they hate the crash and burn feeling that hits 30 to 60 minutes later.

At any given time, there will be the “latest and greatest” in diet fads. Whether it be the low fat, low carb, calorie counting, high protein diet, there is always something grabbing the news headlines. Right now, IF – Intermittent Fasting, is all the craze. In a nutshell, intermittent fasting (IF) is an eating pattern that cycles between periods of fasting and eating. There are cycles ranging from 16/8 to 20/4 to one meal a day. One number represents how long you will go without consuming any food, the other is your window of time to consume food.

Cravings and Emotions… Triggers for Bingeing

If you’re like most people, you’ve experienced food cravings. Out of the blue, you get an urge for something that you swore you would never eat… again. You find yourself automatically heading to the cabinet, mindlessly open the door, reaching in, and grabbing an unopened bag of potato chips, not even aware of what you’re doing. Suddenly, you “come to” taking the last handful of chips from the bag. Angry that you did this, you search for something else to ease the guilt.

Energized or Exhausted… Which are You?

Have you noticed how people seem to move in one of two directions in life? There are those who feel exhausted most of the time, including upon waking. Then there are those who seem almost superhuman. They wake up energized, have a very full day, yet, they are not dragging by day’s end. Sure, they do slow down a bit, but they don’t have a major dip in their energy. In today’s fast-paced world, it seems the majority of people fall into the “exhausted” camp. Drinking cup after cup of coffee, energy drinks, or even popping energy pills, they do what they can to get through the day.

Ahhhh food. In many situations it’s an incredibly pleasurable experience. Yet, some food is not so pleasurable. There are foods that are actually stress inducers. You might not have thought of food as a stressor before, but here is some food for thought: The last two decades have produced a large amount of research that linked stress to obesity and diseases such as diabetes, autoimmune diseases, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and many other conditions and diseases. Increased fat-storing, abdominal obesity, low metabolism, high blood sugar, and hormone problems are all linked to stress.

Muscle Testing Taps into The Power of Your Subconscious Mind

Your subconscious mind, sometimes called the unconscious brain or the body-mind, holds and is continuously recording your existence. It’s in a state of “record on” day and night, recording every bit of information in your environment and every thought and emotion. Your conscious mind can process only a tiny fraction of the information that the subconscious mind processes per second. The subconscious mind knows which stresses have taken your body to an energetically imbalanced state, as well as what your body needs to return to a state of balance and harmony.
